Why kids yoga

Benefits of Kids Yoga

Kids yoga offers a wonderful range of benefits that support children's physical, emotional, and social development.

Physical

Improved flexibility, balance, and coordination. It builds strength in a low-impact way, supports healthy posture, and helps children develop body awareness. For active kids, it can also be a calming counterbalance to high-energy sports.

Emotional & mental

Yoga teaches children breathing techniques and mindfulness skills that help them manage stress, anxiety, and big emotions. Over time, kids often develop better focus and concentration, which can carry over into schoolwork. It also nurtures self-regulation, the ability to pause and respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively.

Self-esteem & confidence

Confidence tends to grow as children master new poses and see their own progress. Because yoga is noncompetitive, kids can explore at their own pace without the pressure of winning or losing, which makes it especially welcoming for children who shy away from team sports.

Social skills

Social skills develop naturally in group classes, where kids practice taking turns, respecting shared space, and encouraging one another. Partner poses and group activities build cooperation and empathy.

Sleep & relaxation

The calming techniques learned in yoga, like deep breathing, guided relaxation, and body scans, give children practical tools for winding down at bedtime.

A lifelong relationship with movement

Yoga teaches kids that exercise doesn't have to be intense or competitive to be valuable. Having that mindset can support lifelong healthy habits.

FAQ

Good to know

What should my child wear?

Comfortable clothes they can move in — no special gear needed. Bare feet or grippy socks are best. Mats are provided, so there's nothing to bring.

What should my child bring?

Just a water bottle! Please note that snacks are not allowed inside the building.

Is there an end-of-season celebration?

Yes! These sessions will culminate in an end of the class year presentation where caretakers, parents, and extended family can come see how much your child has learned over the course of the class. All participants will receive a certificate for successful completion of the class.

Is there a refund policy?

Full refund if you cancel before the first session on Aug 31. After the season begins, I'm happy to prorate a refund for the remaining, unattended sessions, minus the cost of classes already held.

Do you offer a sibling or partial-season rate?

Yes — enroll a second child and take $100 off their tuition. If a full season is too big a commitment to start, you can also enroll in just the 1st or 2nd half of the season (14 sessions each) for $270.

Can't make it 2x a week?

Email me to sign up for just Monday or just Thursday: hello@sproutandstretch.com
